On January 12, 2024, at 10:10 PM, CSPD received a report of an explosion near 548 East Costilla Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Patrol officers responded to the scene and found several items that pointed toward the use of an improvised explosive device.
The CSPD Regional Explosives Unit (REU) subsequently took over the investigation.
On January 19, 2024, after obtaining a search warrant, the Regional Explosives Unit conducted a search of a residence located in the 700 block of East Vermijo Avenue.
On January 22, 2204, as a result of the ongoing investigation, the Regional Explosives Unit established probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for 69-year-old Edward Kiley.
On January 23, 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM, the Regional Explosives Unit took Edward Kiley into custody without incident.
CSPD has reason to believe Kiley is potentially involved with other explosions and is asking for the public's help.
