On February 6, 2023, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the intersection of Palmer Park Boulevard and Academy Boulevard regarding a traffic crash. The investigation revealed that a silver Audi was northbound on Academy Boulevard at a high rate of speed, with up to eight juveniles in the car. The Audi failed to stop for the red light and was struck by a blue Chevrolet traveling east on Palmer Park Boulevard. Multiple people from the Audi were ejected from the car due to the crash. One of those people later died at a local hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the driver involved in the fatal crash at Palmer Park Boulevard and Academy Boulevard on February 5, 2023. An arrest warrant was issued for the driver of the Audi with a charge of Vehicular Homicide, a class three felony.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the 17-year-old juvenile driver turned himself in at the police Operations Center. Because the driver, in this case, is a juvenile, the name will not be released. There is no photograph available for release.
