On Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 7:24 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at South Tejon Street and the southbound off-ramp of I-25. The pedestrian was deceased on scene and the involved vehicle fled.
The investigation has shown that the victim was crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk and was struck by the suspect vehicle that was turning south. After the crash the vehicle fled the scene, traveling west on East Motor Way towards the Motor City area. CSPD is seeking to identify this vehicle and the driver.
Surveillance footage collected has identified a vehicle of interest. The vehicle is described as a dark color or green truck. The truck has 2 white “racing” stripes on only the hood, step bars along the sides, a toolbox in the bed, and may have a broken passenger window. The truck may be either a single-cab or extended-cab. Witnesses say the truck was driven by a white male, 50-60 years old, with a short beard and mustache, at the time of the crash. Photos of the suspect vehicle are provided below.
