On February 2, 2026, at approximately 2:03 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call for service regarding a head-on collision on Highway 115 south of East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard. When emergency services arrived on scene, they discovered two deceased males. Due to the nature of the collision, the CSPD Major Crash Team assumed the investigation.
The initial investigation indicates a vehicle was southbound on Highway 115, crossed over into northbound traffic, and struck a second vehicle head-on, killing both parties. A third vehicle collided, and that driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. At this time, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
On February 3, 2026, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased individuals and identified them as 86-year-old Wallace Broadnax, and 63-year-old David Boxley.
These were the 3rd and 4th traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, there were no traffic fatalities. In the last 365 days, there have been 57 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
