North Academy Boulevard, between Voyager Road and Shrider Road, will have overnight lane closures for the next three weeks. This allows 2C repaving operations to start on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The closures start at 7 p.m., with all lanes reopening at 7 a.m. each morning. The overnight work occurs to lessen traffic impacts through the busy north-south corridor. People should detour to East Woodmen Road or avoid the area during the lane closure times. At least one lane in both north and south directions will remain open during the overnight hours.
The week of Sept. 8 will see milling operations occurring. The schedule calls for asphalt installation to happen the week of Sept. 15. It should conclude by the end of September. All work and schedules are weather dependent.
The voter-approved 2C Road Improvements program funds this work. The program serves as the main source for rebuilding and improving the condition of the existing roads in Colorado Springs.
