Rampart Park on a gloomy afternoon. There are trace amounts of snow on the ground.

The City of Colorado Springs plans to start work on the Rampart Park Drainage project on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Work may temporarily affect entry to Rampart Park’s dog park, disc golf course, basketball courts, BMX track, baseball field, and playground from the access road off Lexington Drive.

The project should last three weeks, depending on weather conditions. Crews don’t expect the access road closure to last more than three days, again weather dependent. Updated road closures and access will be posted to Colorado Springs Parks social media accounts (@CoSpringsParks).

The drainage project involves making repairs along an open channel located on the north side of the park easement and the south side of the new development area. Crews will install a pipe to convey the water, burying it to protect the retaining wall of the new development area. The retaining wall collapsed during the heavy rainfall in summer 2025.

Due to the presence of large trucks and equipment in the area, the road will be restricted to a single 10-foot lane for entering and exiting the park. Outgoing traffic should yield to incoming vehicles when leaving the park.
