On Monday, April 6th at 9:00am the Colorado Springs City Council held a Special Meeting to appoint a new Councilmember to the vacant District 2 Seat. Following a series of nominations and a single vote, candidate Ken Casey received the required majority of the eight votes to be appointed to the vacant District 2 seat on City Council.
Mr. Casey will fill the partial term of District 2 Councilmember, which expires in April of 2027. Following this twelve-month appointment, a two-year term for District 2 will appear on the April 2027 Municipal Election ballot. At that time, Mr. Casey would be eligible to run for re-election. Beginning in April 2029, the District 2 seat will resume on the standard four-year election cycle.
Ken Casey will be sworn in as the District 2 Councilmember on April 13, 2026, at the start of the Work Session.
