Increased investment in stormwater infrastructure over the last several years has made the City of Colorado Springs better prepared for flash flooding, a serious threat to the city. After record rainfall over the last two days, the benefits of those investments can be seen in areas such as Monument Branch and Voyager. The creek was highly eroded causing issues downstream, but the recently finished project added sculptured rock to allow water to flow safely and avoid flooding in the area. The entire area was also replanted with trees, shrubs and grasses.

From roadway intersections to creeks, all around town stormwater investments are helping to make Colorado Springs a safer place to live.
