On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 6:49 p.m., members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched to the 6800 block of Stetson Hills Boulevard regarding a single motorcycle traffic crash where the rider of the motorcycle was deceased on scene. On Friday, April 1, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider has been identified as Colorado Springs resident William Boos. William was 62 years old. This is the fifteenth fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs in 2023. At this same time last year, Colorado Springs had six traffic fatalities. In the past 365 days, there have been 65 traffic deaths in Colorado Springs.  At this point, it does not appear alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.

On 03/30/23 at 1849 hours, CSPD dispatch was notified of a traffic crash in the 6800 block of Stetson Hills Blvd. The caller witnessed a motorcycle lose control and strike the center median traveling eastbound on Stetson Hills Blvd. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and located a deceased male in the middle of the roadway. Based on this information, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The 6800 Blk of Stetson Hills Boulevard was closed for several hours while investigators completed their work. The motorcycle appeared to be traveling eastbound on Stetson Hills Blvd. and was unable to navigate a slight curve in the road and struck the center median losing control.
