On Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2:47 AM, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 800 block of Musket Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male. Officers also located a second adult male who had suffered gunshot wounds and was subsequently transported with serious injuries to a local hospital for treatment. The Homicide Unit responded to assume the investigation.

On Monday, December 4, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased male. He was identified as 19-year-old Marcus Plummer of Denver, CO. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Plummer’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

While the investigation is still ongoing, at this time it appears that Mr. Plummer used a firearm to attempt to rob two adult males in the parking lot of the apartment complex. After a struggle with one of the males, one of the victims of the attempted robbery sustained a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive. Mr. Plummer also suffered at least one gunshot wound and succumbed to his injury. One firearm was located at the scene.

There is no known threat to the community, and all parties involved in this incident are accounted for. This is the 31st homicide in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 50 homicides in the city.
