Closure runs from Woodmen Rd. to Research Pkwy, southbound stays open

Northbound Black Forest Road will be closed between Woodmen Road and Vollmer Road from Friday, June 21, through the end of July for essential construction work.

Both lanes of southbound Black Forest Road will remain open during this closure. Planned construction includes removal of existing pavement and subgrade, rebuilding and repaving the roadway including curb, gutter and medians. The closure allows the work to be completed in a shorter timeline, with increased safety.

“We’re leaving southbound Black Forest Road open and identifying multiple detours around the northbound closure to ensure people can get in and out of their neighborhoods and businesses safely,” said Mike Chaves, project manager for the City of Colorado Springs. “The project team is grateful for the public’s patience during this important phase of construction.”

Detours

Traffic heading from Woodmen to northbound Black Forest Road will have three options:

  • North on Tutt to Cowpoke, then east to Black Forest Road
  • North on Marksheffel Road to Cowpoke Road, then west to Black Forest Road
  • Access to Black Forest from Research Boulevard is also available

Project information

The project is widening the roadway to two lanes in each direction between Woodmen Road and Research Parkway.
