Major traffic shift coming over Fountain Creek bridge on Tuesday evening

The eastbound frontage road from 8th Street to Highway 24 will reopen beginning Tuesday, March 3. Travelers should expect the road to open at 7 p.m., and motorists traveling on northbound 8th Street will see a major traffic shift over the Fountain Creek bridge.

The center lanes of the bridge will close so crews can continue bridge rehabilitation. Northbound traffic will have one open lane across the bridge, while southbound traffic will have two open lanes. The new multi-use sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will also open as part of this traffic shift. This phase of construction is expected to last 2-3 weeks.

Additionally, crews will continue to drill to locate utilities under 8th Street just south of the bridge. Drivers may experience occasional short-duration lane closures in both directions. Extra caution is advised while traveling through the work zone.

Access to local businesses will remain open and clearly always marked. Please stay alert for workers and equipment, particularly on the Fountain Creek bridge, where construction will be occurring between northbound and southbound lanes.
