Traffic on Garden of the Gods Road, east of Interstate 25, will be reduced to one lane each direction on Wednesday, March 11, starting at 8 p.m. and lasting through Thursday, March 12 at 5 a.m., as crews install new traffic signals and overhead arms at the intersections of Northpark Drive and Mark Dabling Boulevard.
The work is part of a City of Colorado Springs’ intersection safety project expected to be completed in late March.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution with heavy equipment, work vehicles and workers on foot in the area. They may want to choose alternative routes, if possible, to minimize travel delays.
Crews expect to remove the old traffic signal poles approximately a week later and then perform final work on the project.
The median and intersection improvement project on Garden of the Gods Road started in mid-October. Funding for the $1.96 million project comes from the Colorado Department of Transportation, with a local contribution from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority.
