Colorado Springs Olympic City USA

Join City Forestry, City Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, the Colorado State Forest Service and Mayor Yemi for an Arbor Day celebration and ceremonial tree planting at Van Diest Park from 10:30-11*.

Tree Planting

In addition to the ceremonial tree planting, City Forestry will be planting 49 trees in Van Diest Park to commemorate 49 years of being a Tree City USA city! Tree planting will take place throughout the day from 9 a.m.-2p.m., so stop by any time and say hi to our City Forestry staff, and volunteers from Carmel Elementary School who will be helping with the planting!

Art Installation

Students from Carmel Elementary School have submitted artwork to be considered for an installation in Van Diest Park. As part of the Arbor Day Celebration, the winning student art piece will be installed in Van Diest Park for future generations to enjoy for years to come.

Tree Giveaway

Beyond just planting 49 trees in Van Diest Park, City Forestry will celebrate 49 years as a Tree City USA city by giving away 49 trees to Colorado Springs residents! The trees are available to residents first come, first served. Residents should also bring means to transport the tree back to their homes (pickup truck, trailer, hatchback, etc.).

*The ceremony will take place from 10:30-11 a.m., but City Forestry will be in the park planting 49 trees from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., so stop by and say hi!
