Beginning the week of April 13, motorists will see lane impacts on North Stone Avenue at Fillmore Street as construction begins on the North Stone Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project.
Work will start by installing a water main at the intersection.
During construction:
- No street parking will be allowed along the project corridor from April 2026 through early 2027
- One southbound lane will remain open on the east side of North Stone Avenue
- Traffic will be guided through the work zone with cones and signage
- Access to nearby businesses will be maintained, and the project team will work to minimize disruptions
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. All work is weather-dependent and schedules may change.
Project information
Utility work for this project began in November 2025. The project will install new stormwater pipes and drains, relocate a water main, and repair areas impacted by construction. These improvements will reduce drainage issues in the area and allow property owners to connect to the new stormwater system in the future.
Following construction, crews will restore affected areas, including:
- Road surfaces
- Curbs and gutters
- Driveways
- Landscaping within the work zone
The City of Colorado Springs, Stormwater Enterprise, and Colorado Springs Utilities are coordinating this work to reduce impacts to the community.
