Two of the City’s three outdoor pools – Wilson Ranch and Monument Valley, operated by the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region – will open at a limited capacity. An opening date has not yet been determined, but they could open as soon as June 22. Surfaces in restrooms and locker rooms will be routinely cleaned every hour. As previously scheduled, Portal Pool and Prospect Lake Beach will remain closed for the remainder of the 2020 season. Structural issues in Portal Pool have resulted in excessive water loss that may be worsening its condition. Throughout the remainder of this year, additional analysis will be conducted to inform potential solutions. Regarding the operation of Prospect Lake Beach, ongoing remodeling of the Beach House prohibits safe access to the beach. The project is expected to be complete by the end of July and some programming could begin this fall. The Parks Department and the Y greatly appreciate the community’s continued patience and support as we work to resume summer activities.
Reopening of the City-owned indoor pools at the Cottonwood Creek Family Center YMCA and Memorial Park Family Center YMCA will occur at a later date that has not yet been determined.
The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region in collaboration with the City of Colorado Springs brings you a wide array of aquatic opportunities! YMCA membership is not required to enjoy these facilities.
