PROPOSED SERVICE CHANGE SPRING 2026

Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) is proposing changes to multiple routes. If approved, these changes will be implemented on March 29, 2026. Below is a list of the proposed changes and what they mean for our riders.

Here is a quick overview of what’s included in the Proposed Service Changes for Spring 2026:

  • Zero fare service and more weekday daytime service on Route 3
  • More weekend daytime service on Routes 5, 10, 11, and 25
  • New Saturday evening service on Route 10
  • Slightly reduced weekday frequency on THE ZEB Downtown Shuttle
  • New bus stops on Route 17
  • Elimination of Route 20
  • End-of-line change for Route 33
  • Year-round service and longer hours on Route 40

These updates are designed to improve reliability, expand access, increase ridership, and better match service levels with community needs.

Feedback was gathered from residents on these service changes via a survey through Feb. 5, 2026.

Proposed Service Changes

Below is list of each proposed change and why it’s being recommended.

ROUTE 3:

Zero Fare Service

Route 3 would become zero fare, creating a seamless connection between downtown Colorado Springs and downtown Manitou Springs, both of which already offer fare-free service. This is expected to reduce traffic congestion and parking shortages by making transit a more convenient option between the two areas.

Weekday Frequency Increase

Weekday daytime service will improve from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes

ROUTE 5:

Weekend Frequency Increase

Saturday and Sunday daytime service will increase from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.

ROUTE 10:

Weekend Frequency Increase

Saturday and Sunday daytime service would increase from 60 minutes to 30 minutes.

New Saturday Evening Service

Route 10 currently stops running early on Saturdays. Extending service into the evening would improve access to neighborhoods south of Nevada Ave. and Southgate Rd.

ROUTE 11:

Weekend Frequency Increase

Saturday and Sunday daytime service increase from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. This route also experiences high ridership and on-time performance challenges that additional frequency can help address.

THE ZEB DOWNTOWN SHUTTLE:

Weekday Frequency Adjustment

Weekday service would slightly shift from every 7 minutes to every 10 minutes.

ROUTE 17:

Added Bus Stops

Two new stops, one inbound and one outbound, would be added near Uintah St. and 17th St. to reduce the long distance between existing stops.

ROUTE 20:

Route Elimination

Route 20 would be discontinued. Its original purpose, providing frequent weekend service along Nevada Ave. and supporting Routes 10 and 11, will be met through the proposed frequency increases on Routes 10 and 11. Resources from Route 20 would be reallocated to support those improvements.

ROUTE 25:

Weekend Frequency Increase

Saturday and Sunday service will increase from 30 minutes to 15 minutes. Route 25 has some of the highest weekend ridership in the system and serves a key future transit corridor.

ROUTE 33:

End-of-Line Change

Route 33 buses would end service at the Dillon Mobility Hub instead of Fields Park on the last trip before going out of service. This ensures riders can return directly to the mobility hub without needing to walk from Fields Park.

ROUTE 40:

Year-Round Service and Longer Hours

Route 40 would operate year-round with expanded weekday hours. Currently, it only runs during Pikes Peak State College spring and fall semesters, The change would make the route more useful for riders beyond the college community.
