Rockledge Ranch to Host Family-Friendly Beer Festival to Mark City’s 150th on June 12, 2021

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – As part of a summer of celebratory events, tasting tickets for the Beards, Bonnets & Brews + Festival went on sale today. The event, which features 30 breweries, distilleries and wineries along with historic exhibitions, seven live local bands, multiple contests and a day full of old-time family fun, will happen June 12, 2021 from noon-8 p.m. at the historic Rockledge Ranch in Colorado Springs. Admission is free but some activities require advance purchase. Details below.

Tastings

Adults who wish to participate in the beer (whiskey and wine) tastings MUST purchase a punch card good for 10 “tastes” in advance. Punch cards are on sale for $22 here and the purchase includes a commemorative mason jar glass. Supplies are limited and cannot be purchased day-of. Punch cards and mason jar glasses are available only to those 21+ who are able to show a valid ID upon arrival at the event. Bands

Local success story the Tejon Street Corner Thieves will highlight a slate of seven local bands performing on multiple stages throughout the day. The list is forthcoming and can be found under the “Bands” tab.

Contests

As the former mayor did during Colorado Springs’ Centennial celebration, Mayor Suthers challenges all men of hair-growing age to grow facial hair for the Sesquicentennial Event. As not to leave out the other half of our population, the mayor invites all the women in our fair city, to begin work on their Sesquicentennial Bonnets in advance of the celebration. There’s also a contest for “Best Fake Beard,” so all are welcome to compete! The contests will take place at 3 p.m. (Beards) and 4:15 p.m. (Bonnets). You must be present to win!  There are six categories in each contest: Beard contests include Best fake, Best real, Longest, Bushiest, Best ‘Scaped and Crowd Favorite. Bonnet contest categories include: Best Large, Best Small, Most Colorful, Most Historic, Best “Kentucky Derby,” Crowd Favorite.
