To help address a $31 million budget shortfall, the City of Colorado Springs has furlough closure days in 2026 when most City administration offices are closed.  

Emergency services and critical operations will continue.  

These dates are selected strategically to limit the impact to residents using City services and coincide with existing City holiday closures.  

February 13 - Friday before Presidents Day 
May 22 - Friday before Memorial Day 
July 6 - Monday after Independence Day 
September 4 - Friday before Labor Day 
November 25 - Wednesday before Thanksgiving 

A list of closures will be listed in the news section at ColoradoSprings.gov/news a few days before each furlough day.   

City offices CLOSED

City Council and Legislative Services 
Communications 
Economic Development 
Finance 
Housing and Homelessness Response 

Human Resources and Risk Management 
Mayor’s Office 
Municipal Court 
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services administration (see below for facilities)
Planning 
Public Works administration 
Support Services 

Emergency Services and Critical Operations OPEN

  • Emergency services including police and fire departments and 911 call center will remain fully operational.  

  • Critical public works operations will continue.

City Enterprises, which are self-funded with no tax dollars, are open:

Colorado Springs Airport 
Evergreen Cemetery 
Fairview Cemetery 
Pikes Peak - America’s Mountain 
Development Review Enterprise 

Patty Jewett Golf Course 
Valley Hi Golf Course 
Parking System Enterprise 
Stormwater Enterprise 

Special Improvement Maintenance Districts (SIMDs) are also operational.
