COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following an announcement Tuesday, Aug. 4, by the Colorado State High School Activities Association (CSHSAA) that football and soccer are delayed until spring 2021, the City has decided to cancel its youth football and soccer seasons for fall 2020.
“This was a really tough decision because we know how much sports benefit and mean to our participants,” said Joe Braun, City of Colorado Springs sports program coordinator. “Unfortunately, our football and soccer programs align so closely with local schools, that the delay to the spring season makes it too difficult for us to run our programs this fall. We thank our participants for their patience, encourage them to stay healthy and active this fall and look forward to seeing them again next season.”
In an effort to continue providing players with quality options, the city’s Sports Office is offering fall baseball as well as various sport camps. Registration for fall baseball is currently active and registration for fall sport camps is still being determined at this time.
For those who have already registered for fall soccer or football, you may request a refund by contacting the Sports Office at 385-5981x0. If you do not request a refund, a credit will be placed on your account for use in spring 2021.
