On November 19, 2020, around 11:00 A.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), and numerous partner agencies responded to the area of Bear Creek Park and the surrounding neighborhoods of Electra Drive for reports of a fire in a field.

In total, the fire burned approximately 26 acres. Thankfully, there were no injuries or reported property loss. We would personally like to extend a sincere thank you to all the fire crews who worked this incident.

In cooperation with CSFD, the Regional Explosives/Arson Unit (REU) – a multijurisdictional team led by the CSPD – was called in to assume responsibility for this investigation. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Both the REU and CSFD are asking for the public’s help by providing any information regarding this fire. Specifically, we are requesting community members to contact us if they were in the area of the fire that day or may have seen anything suspicious. If you have any information, please call the CSPD at (719) 444-7000.

This remains an active and open investigation.
