On February 21, 2023 at 1:15 p.m., members of the Colorado Springs Police department, Gold Hill Division, were dispatched to a vehicle versus semi traffic crash on I-25 just south of the Martin Luther King Junior Bypass. On arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle involved had been struck by the trailer of the semi, and the driver of the car was deceased on the scene. On February 22, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy of the deceased person. The deceased has been identified as 85-year-old Colorado Springs resident Frank Allison. This is the eighth fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs this year. At the same time last year, there were three traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs. In the past 365 days, there have been 61 people killed in traffic crashes in Colorado Springs. This case is still being investigated and there have not been any arrests made. Neither speed nor alcohol is considered as a factor in this investigation.

On 02/21/2023, at 1:15 PM, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Gold Hill Division, were dispatched to the area of I-25 northbound at the Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass for a traffic crash involving a tractor-trailer and a motor vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, it was determined that the vehicle’s driver was deceased on the scene. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigation. It is still early in the investigation, and Detectives are still working to determine the proximate cause of the crash. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors currently.
