On March 22, 2022, at approximately 9:34 A.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a shooting call for service in the 1400 block of East Columbia Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located a deceased adult. Due to the nature of the incident, the CSPD Violent Crimes Section responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On March 23, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the victim and identified him as 24-year-old Tryvone Brooks of Colorado Springs. The shooting death of Mr. Brooks was ruled a homicide. Mr. Brooks’ death is the 14th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated 5 homicides this time last year.
Detectives are actively working to develop information about the incident and identify those involved. No arrests have been made and additional information will be released as appropriate.
