At 9:42 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2020, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to the report of a disturbance at a convenience store located in the 2800 block of South Circle Drive.  Investigation at the scene determined an adult male victim suffered life-threatening injuries when he was intentionally struck by a vehicle while in the parking lot of the convenience store.  The vehicle subsequently fled the area.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to injuries on September 25, 2020.

On September 26, 2020 the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased adult male.  The male was identified as 53-year-old Michael Dean Strong of Colorado Springs.  While the Coroner’s Office will make the official cause and manner of death determination, this death is being investigated as a homicide and continues to be an active investigation.

Mr. Strong’s death is the 26th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2020. The Colorado Springs Police Department investigated 17 homicides at this time last year.
