On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at approximately 12:57 am officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were dispatched to St. Francis Hospital at 6001 East Woodmen Road regarding a gunshot wound victim seeking treatment. Officers arrived at the hospital and learned the shooting happened in the 4400 block of Burton Way. The adult-male victim later died from his injuries.
The CSPD Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy of the deceased male. The male has been identified as 19-year-old Hoani Bartlett, of Castle Rock, Colorado.
Mr. Bartlett’s death has been ruled a homicide and is the 23rd homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. At this time last year, the Colorado Springs Police Department investigated eighteen homicides.
