Colorado Springs is a proud military town. In honor of our veterans, the Colorado Springs Police Department is displaying special military patch through the end of November. You will see it featured on many of police department vehicles.

Veteran’s Day was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I. Since that first observance in 1919, the day has changed names and dates several times until President Gerald R. Ford signed Public Law 94-97 (89 Stat. 479), which returned the annual observance of Veterans Day to its original date of November 11.

As we prepare to honor another Veterans Day this year, we take a moment to remember all those who have served and continue to serve this great nation. We will never have enough words to express our deep gratitude for all the brave men and women who have served our country. We are thankful for each one of you, including the over 250 Colorado Springs Police Department employees who have served or are currently serving as reservists.

Community members also have the opportunity to purchase a special CSPD military coin and/or patch throughout the month of November. Coins and Patches are available for purchase at the front desk of the Police Operations Center (705 S. Nevada Ave) between 8 a.m.-7 p.m. every day of the week.

One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Colorado Springs Police Cadet Program. The program is designed to grow young leaders who become active in our community.
