On Friday, August 19, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 37-year-old Glenn Fruster of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Fruster’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Mr. Fruster’s death is the 31st homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated 22 homicides this time last year.

On Monday, August 22, 2022, during the follow-up investigation, 41-year-old Carnel Davis, a resident of Colorado Springs, was identified as the suspect in this investigation.  Mr. Davis was taken into custody at the Police Operations Center without incident.  Mr. Davis was charged with one count of Murder in the First Degree and transported to the El Paso County Jail.

On Friday, August 19, 2022, at approximately 02:04 am, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Communication Center received a call for service regarding a shooting in the 2100 block of Academy Place.  Officers responded to the location and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.  Detectives from the Homicide / Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation.  At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.
