Update

On August 17, 2020, The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy of the deceased adult male located on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail. The Coroner’s Office determined the circumstance surrounding the death was not criminal in nature.

The identity of the deceased will not be released and further inquiries of the identity will be directed to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. This continues to be an active investigation and further details will be released as appropriate.

On August 16, 2020, at approximately 06:14 am, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) personnel responded to a report of a person laying on the ground off of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, a quarter-mile south of West Polk Street. Upon arrival, CSFD medical personnel confirmed that the person was deceased.

Detectives with CSPD’s Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for this suspicious death investigation.
