On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 12:31 P.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a traffic crash involving a black Subaru and a bicyclist on Centennial Boulevard and High Tech Way. Arriving emergency personnel from the Colorado Springs Fire Department and AMR provided first aid to the bicyclist, who was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The Major Crash Team responded to the scene to assume the investigation into this incident.

The investigation revealed the bicyclist was southbound on Centennial Boulevard, just south of High Tech Way, when he drove across multiple southbound lanes of traffic and was struck by a southbound Subaru. The bicyclist has been identified as 74-year-old Richard Timberlake of Colorado Springs. Mr. Timberlake subsequently died as a result of the injuries suffered in this crash. He is the 42nd traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year.

Neither excessive speeds nor impairment are suspected at this time. No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.
