Update
On July 7, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Santiago Calleros of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Calleros’ death is being investigated as a homicide.
Mr. Calleros’ death is the 27th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. At this time last year, the CSPD investigated 21 homicides in the City of Colorado Springs.

On July 6th, 2022, at approximately 10:47PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of a shooting at the El Morro Mobile Home Park, located in the 3600 block of El Morro Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers and medical personnel provided medical aid to the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries. Violent Crimes Detectives responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
