Update
On Monday, January 9th, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 31-year-old Darrian Adame, a resident of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Adame’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Mr. Adame’s death is the 1st homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. The Colorado Spring Police Department had investigated zero homicides at the same time last year.

On January 8th, 2023, officers were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 300 Block of E. Brookside Street. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male in an apartment with apparent gunshot wounds. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were called and responded to the scene. There is no active threat to the community regarding this incident. The investigation is ongoing. All further communication related to this incident will come from the Public Information Office.
