On 08/11/2022 at 5:06 AM members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to the 5600 block of Lantana Dr. regarding a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Once on scene officers discovered that there was a pedestrian who had been run over by a vehicle and was lying in a driveway. Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigations.
On scene investigation determined that family members from the residence were being transported to the airport in the early morning hours. When the driver of the vehicle returned to the residence the driver was not aware the victim was in the driveway. When the driver turned into the driveway the victim was run over by the car. The driver of the car backed out of the driveway running over the victim a second time before parking the vehicle along the curb in front of the residence. When the driver exited the vehicle, they found their family member laying in the driveway and contacted 911. Upon the arrival of the Colorado Springs Fire Department and AMR it weas determine that the pedestrian was deceased on scene.
On 8/12/2022 the El Paso County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy of the deceased person. The deceased was identified as 75-year-old Tong Suk Olson. This traffic fatality is the 28th fatality this year in Colorado Springs. At this time last year there were 30 traffic fatalities.
