City Council approves ConnectCOS transportation plan
In March 2023, City Council approved the ConnectCOS transportation plan, the first city-wide multimodal transportation planning effort in two decades. The new plan assesses Colorado Spring’s current transportation system and develops recommendations for ensuring an efficient, accessible, safe, and well-connected network for people who drive, walk, bike and take public transit. ConnectCOS explores how transportation investments can help the City realize the vision developed from PlanCOS, the City’s comprehensive plan. It also establishes six community-supported goals: safe, equitable, sustainable, efficiently reliable, accessible and connected. More information can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/ConnectCOS.
Traffic Management
About the Traffic Management System
The Traffic Management Center (TMC) for the City of Colorado Springs is responsible for traffic signal timing, traffic signal coordination and the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
The continual growth of transportation needs in Colorado Springs has led to the development of the City's ITS system which includes the Traffic Cameras on Interstate 25 and the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
The Traffic Cameras and the ATMS system are an integral part of the State and National effort to provide high technology transportation solutions. ITS solutions provide motorists with continual information concerning the traffic flow on the Interstate and City Streets. The computerized ITS system allows city staff to continually evaluate study and coordinate the City's traffic signals.
To report a malfunctioning traffic signal, pedestrian signal or school flasher, or for more information, please call the Traffic Management Center at 719-385-5908 or email Traffic.Eng@coloradosprings.gov.
