The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) began 2024 on a high note, welcoming a total of 171,398 total passengers for the month of January – 16.7 percent more passengers than the airport saw in January 2023. Enplanements for the month surpassed the previous year’s number coming in at 16.1 percent higher than last January at 86,206.

“After ending the year with the highest level of enplanements the airport has experienced in over 20 years, I’m happy to see that trend has continued in to 2024 with substantial traffic numbers,” said Greg Philips, Director of Aviation for COS.

With five of the six carriers flying for the month of January, there were 119,157 departing seats available, which marks a 15 percent increase when compared to the same period last year. Load factors also showed an increase, with an average of 72.3 percent – a slight increase from last year at this time.

As traffic continues to grow at COS, the airport is exploring capital improvements for the parking system, which will result in a slight increase in short-term parking. Effective March 1, 2024, the short-term rate will increase to a maximum daily rate of $15, a $3 per day increase. The long-term parking lot rate of $8 maximum per day will remain unchanged. With significantly increased traffic in recent years, this parking rate increase will help COS explore additional parking options for travelers.
